All Mermaids Exit Reader Mode

sands of time roll forward
foam laces our fate”

Kikyo Wong shares with many of us two passions that seem to have something in common. She is an enthusiast of photography, mermaids and marine life.

No doubt, the devotion to beauty unites these two hobbies in many of us. In the case of our protagonist today, they join an unfathomable Asian beauty, to which he dedicates life as a model.

She comes from Japan from osaka prefecture and brings us beautiful images of her work as a model and her commitment to the environment.

Lets start by the beginning how did you get into the water… what did you attract at first?

About two years ago… I saw and was deeply moved by a photograph of a mermaid by a photographer named Haseo.

I thought that I wanted to become a photographer like him,and so I started doing photoshoots of beautiful mermaids.

If it wasn’t for him,I wouldn’t be who I am today.

As for my daily life,I am just like the average girl! I like going to cafes with my friends, shopping, etc.

Why do you love mermaids so much? What does mermaiding wring to your life?

I can sometimes be a model, but for me,being a mermaid is my other self,my other side.

Unlike the noisy world,it is a world that is weightless and quiet.

For me,being in the water is the most peaceful and a time I can heal.

How is the mermaid community in Osaka and Japan? Are there many mermaids? Are you organized? Do you meet regularly?

There are few places where you can swim with a mermaid tail in Japan, and there are not so many people who are interested in it,so in order to increase interest in joining a mermaid group,I started hosting a mermaid swim class every month in a diving pool.

Being a model and photographer,I can understand the feelings both in front of and behind the camera, which makes it easier to take even better pictures.

Could you tell us about your other passions, Photography and modelling?

Of course,I often do mermaid photoshoots.

I am still training and practicing my skills as a photographer, but I hope to have my name and activities be known around the world one day.

As a model, most of the photographers are not of me mermaiding, but in the future I would like to work and do performances at aquariums.

Which is your favorite item or clothing? Your tail/s, do you have a favorite manufacturer?

I have a favorite Japanese brand of clothes, but if I see clothes or accessories that I like,I will buy anything.

I especially like accessories that have sea motifs

I buy my tails from Finfolk and Mertailor.

I like these brands because when I was desperately searching for shops from here in Japan, they were unique and are always kind in consulting with me about the tails.

Do you support any ocean conservation efforts?

Of course.

In Japan, pollution has become a big problem,so to reduce plastic garbage many places are no longer giving plastic bags at shopping malls, etc.,and many places are getting rid of plastic straws.

I too am doing my best to live a green lifestyle
